Student opportunities and activities
At Malabar Public School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.
These programs include:
- School sport, PSSA Summer and Winter Competitions, Major School Carnivals - Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics including representing at Zone, Regional and State Carnivals, Gala days - Oz tag, Netball, Rugby League and Golf, K-2 Yoga, Year 2 Swim Scheme.
- Creative and Performing Arts activities - School Choir, School Concert Band, School Rock Band, Key Board and Guitar Class, Malabar's Got Talent, Art Club.
- Cultural and Language Activities - Mandarin Classes, French Classes, Harmony Day, NAIDOC Week celebrations, Sorry Day Recognition, Koori Connections.
- Excursions and Incursions - Whole School Healthy Harold, Stage 2 Camp - Sport and Recreation, Stage 3 Camp - Canberra experience.
- Public Speaking and Debating - Multicultural Public Speaking and Sandra Clark Public Speaking competitions, Premier's Debating Challenge.
- Lunch time and interest-based clubs - Art Classes, Environmental Groups (Green Warriors).
- Student Leadership Opportunities - School Captains and Vice Captains, House Captains and Vice Captains, Peer Support Leaders, Peer Counsellors, Green Warriors, Student Representative Counsellors, Library Monitors, Year 5 Buddies.
- Activities that support high potential and gifted learners - Learning Enrichment and Extension Program classes 1-6, ICAS Assessments, Differentiated Maths Groupings across stages, Maths Olympiad and Maths Games Competition, Premiers Spelling Bee, Chess Club and Coding Class.
- Whole school special events, including - Easter Hat Parade, ANZAC DAY Assembly, Mother's and Father's Day Event, Movie Night, Book Week Parade, Skip-A-Thon, Walk-A-Thon, Halloween Disco, Bush Christmas.

Our extra-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Creative Arts Afternoon
Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
